The Nags Head in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire is a traditional 15th century country Inn and restaurant situated along the valley of the River Misbourne in the glorious Chiltern Hills.
Brought to you by the Michaels family, owners of the award-winning Bricklayers Arms in Flaunden, Hertfordshire, the newly refurbished Nags Head serves an Anglo French fusion menu. The Nags Head has now been awarded with its first “Rosette” for its “Culinary Excellence” and accredited in several guides including a Commendation Award in the Hardens Guide; chosen as “Pick of the Pubs” in the AA Pub Guide and a recommendation and on the front cover of the Michelins “Eating Out in Pubs” and the much coveted “Michelin Guide”.
The Nags Head was recently featured in the movie, Mr Fantastic Fox as it was an old favourite of children’s author, Roald Dahl.
Dining guests will receive a warm welcome by Adam Michaels and his team who has recently been awarded one of the “Newcomer of the Year 2009” Awards by the Publican Magazine. The newly refurbished Nags Head keeps all of its original features, including a large inglenook fireplace and low old oak beams, and many new features including a new bar and stylish new furnishings throughout.
Now graded as an AA 4 star Inn, there are half a dozen new double and twin bedrooms, all beautifully refurbished with bath or shower ensuites After a rested night's sleep, you'll find a hearty breakfast waiting for you in the morning
Food is our passion; we use only the finest produce when available because we know it makes a difference and wherever possible, we source from local farms and suppliers. We believe in giving good value for money and serve only the finest quality food, so you can be assured of an excellent meal, time and time again. On the lunch and evening menus, you'll find favourites, such as home smoked fishes; mixed and wild mushroom feuillette; our famous 21 day aged Bedfordshire Fillet Steaks with a selection of sauces along with a great steak and kidney ale pie and local game. Fresh fish dishes are sourced according to market availability and change on a daily basis.
Don’t miss out on our Sunday roasts where you’ll find locally supplied fresh produce and mouthwatering puddings, along with an extensive award winning wine list to suit all tastes, as well as a selection of local ales.
Our bar is a great place to relax in front of the open fire place and in the summer months you can enjoy a drink or meal in our delightful garden with attractive views of rolling hills of the Chilterns.
