The Old Crown, Ashton, Northamptonshire
The small village of Ashton is just a stones throw from the A508 midway between Northampton and Milton Keynes. Chef Ian and his wife Bex took over this lovely dining pub just a couple of years ago and have already made massive changes, which include new menus as well as good ales. Not surprising then that their reputation for good food is gradually spreading further afield.
The Old Crown is the heart of the village and is a warm and welcoming inn with a lovely safe garden to relax in the summer sunshine. Winter times the cosy interior is a great place to just sit back and watch the world go by.
As a chef and owner Ian ensures that all his produce is sourced locally wherever possible and meals prepared freshly in his kitchen. He sets high standards and expects his kitchen team to maintain them. You can expect a good choice from the menu, starters such as Fresh Crab with Gazpacho and Cucumber Sauce, Deep Fried Squid with Aioli or Grilled Goats Cheese with a Pine Nut and Herb Crust. Main courses may include Twice Cooked Pigs Cheeks with Parsnip Mash, Red Wine and Smoky Bacon, Local Pork Sausages with Bubble and Squeak and Cider Gravy or Honey Roast Duck Breast with Dauphinoise Potato Gratin. If you have a sweet tooth the dessert menu will delight with some delicious traditional favourites.
Front of house, wife Bex is there to welcome you and ensure your visit is a memorable one. All well-behaved dogs are also very welcome.
